About the Scioto River Valley FederationOur Mission History
The prospect of losing this scenic river valley helped people realize its value -- the wildlife, rare plants, animals, birds and aquatic life, the acres of rich bountiful farmland, the historic homes, and the value of the ecosystem to our environment and to all the people who make their home in this watershed. The Scioto River Valley Federation Today In addition, the Federation has provided awards to middle school and high school science fair participants with water quality projects. The Federation offers workshops and training using our Price Nature Preserve educational facility and has worked with student research at several universities. The Federation has organized many community events such as canoe floats, river walks, informational and community meetings, and annual river cleanups on the upper Scioto River. The Federation currently networks with a fulltime Scioto River watershed coordinator. Part of the project goals are to increase public awareness in river related issues. A watershed action plan has been developed with community involvement and public input in an effort to work towards development of a watershed coalition comprised of watershed stakeholders.
