He helps teach environmental awareness and encourages responsible stewardship through community outreach programs. The Scioto River Sweep is an annual river clean up event that brings together dozens of people who scour the banks of the Scioto River to eliminate unsightly trash and debris and helps to restore the beauty to the environment. The Price Nature Preserve serves as an environmental education area for children and adults alike in their quest to learn about the value of the ecosystem within the watershed. The Adopt-a-Highway program has Federation members involved with cleaning debris and litter from an adopted two-mile section of State Route 257 located along the Scioto River about five miles west of Delaware, Ohio.
